As we have seen already with AI, this mindset can lead to exploitative practices, copyright infringement, plagiarism, loss of authenticity, and the erosion of trust. Exploitative practices include using user-generated content (UGC) without giving proper credit or compensation, taking advantage of vulnerable populations, or engaging in unethical data mining.
Overusing automation and AI to generate content can also result in a loss of authenticity. Content created solely for the purpose of efficiency lacks the emotional connection that content intended to build trust and authority and to deliver value establishes.
We share vast amounts of personal information online. When people feel their data and contributions are being exploited without their consent, it erodes trust in both digital platforms and brands. And as every content creator and marketer knows, trust is a vital component of building strong, lasting relationships with their audiences.

As we analyze these implications, it becomes evident that this pursuit, when unchecked, actually erodes authenticity and trustworthiness.

Overemphasis on efficiency can lead to plagiarism or low-quality content, which also undermines authenticity and trust.
